Importing Digital Scales: Documents and Inspection Checklist
The paperwork and inspection steps importers should plan for — certificates, test reports, carton marks, and what to check when the container arrives.

Plan documents before the order, not after
Certificates, test reports and declarations are easier to confirm before production than after. Build a document list at the quotation stage: the certificate set for your market, the model references on each document, and who holds the originals. A missing document can hold a shipment longer than a production delay.
Match certificates to the exact model
A product-family certificate does not automatically cover a new housing or a new electronics board. Ask for the certificate and test report by model number, and check the report date against the model being shipped. Keep copies with the shipment file.
Confirm carton marks and labels
Carton marks should match the packing list: model, quantity, carton number, gross weight and any handling marks your warehouse requires. Label language and country-of-origin marking are destination-market requirements; confirm them before printing.
Inspect on arrival
Check carton count against the packing list, inspect for water damage, then sample units and weigh a known reference. Confirm the unit set and power configuration match the order. Record what you find with photos before the cartons are broken down.
Keep a reference unit
Keep one unit from each shipment as a reference sample. It makes the next order comparison simple and gives you a baseline if a customer reports a problem.
Build the document list with us
ZmoTek coordinates certification documents from the cooperating factories with the shipping documents. Tell us the destination market and we will confirm the certificate set and the model references before production.
